Industry News Desk TIBCO Silver – Amazon for Dummies
It’s supposed to cut the time it takes to build and deploy cloud apps ‘from months to minutes’

TIBCO is going down the cloud path like everybody else and like everybody else is claiming that what it's got is "unique."
TIBCO's widgetry, which will go to beta June 30, is described as a rapid application platform reportedly built from the ground up for building and deploying cloud applications. It's called TIBCO Silver and it's supposed to cut the time it takes to build and deploy cloud apps "from months to minutes." It's supposed to have "self-aware" elasticity that it gets from TIBCO's Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology so it can roll with the traffic highs and lows on its own. TIBCO says the widgetry ensures that response time SLAs - a rare cloud feature - are met. It's also guaranteeing system- and compute-level SLAs such as CPU and memory usage. TIBCO Silver provides container support for Java, C++, Ruby, .NET and Spring; TIBCO is thinking of composite apps that deploy in one click; it fancies composite apps. Pricing is still up in the air, so to speak. It figures the beta could take maybe six months so it's got time to come up with a pricing model. It's also supposed to move on to other clouds besides Amazon's. TIBCO's got VMware and India's HCL Technologies to help mine Silver. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
