Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

PreEmptive Solutions Ships DashO Version 5
DashO Version 5, integrates application security with business performance monitoring for Java-based applications

PreEmptive Solutions, the leading provider of solutions to protect, monitor and manage software development investments, announced here today the immediate availability of DashO Version 5, integrating application security with business performance monitoring for Java-based applications. This latest version of DashO, the most widely used obfuscation product for Java, includes major functional extensions offering improved application security, extended support for emerging enterprise and mobile frameworks, and the ability to monitor application adoption and end-user behavior.

"When DashO was launched in 1999, it was in response to emerging threats unique to Java and the state of computing systems at the time," said Gabriel Torok, CEO of PreEmptive Solutions. "Fundamentally, our mission has not changed except now development teams are deploying across clouds, servers, and mobile devices and monitoring application use is as important as securing code. This latest generation of DashO is again the first in class to integrate application security and business performance monitoring."

"This release represents the culmination of a year's worth development investment in the DashO product suite," said Michael Moores, vice president development, PreEmptive Solutions. "Our clients have long recognized the importance of protecting intellectual property and securing applications, but there is a lot of excitement about the prospect of combining application security with application monitoring to better establish R&D priorities and ultimately increase the return on application development investments."

Specifically, DashO now includes:
·     Runtime Intelligence Service integration: the ability to inject session and feature level monitoring post-build, with no programming required and stream runtime data to the Runtime Intelligence Service portal.

·     Automated support for Spring, Hibernate, JSP Tag Libraries, and WAR files: enterprise-scale applications often have the highest security concerns and the greatest need for monitoring and management. Automated support for these frameworks and libraries has become a broad industry requirement.

·     Google Android support: development investment and intellectual property is pouring into this emerging platform. DashO offers protection, measurement, and management of this growing category of application development.
