Newswires eTelemetry's E911 Solutions Provide Location Information
eTelemetry concurs with the position taken by NENA in its updated model legislation
Mar. 3, 2009 05:45 PM
eTelemetry has announced that its E911 solutions provide the essential location information for MLTS that National Emergency Number Association (NENA) recommends in its model legislation, including VoIP phone tracking. eTelemetry concurs with and supports the position taken by NENA in its most recent approval of an updated version of model legislation and reaffirmed that its E911 solutions provide the location discovery technology detailed in this important document. NENA’s model legislation identifies the imperative need for location discovery on telephony networks, citing that a majority of Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) only provide the physical street address of a business, but not enough detailed information, such as building, floor, or room number, to get help to the caller if the caller cannot provide his or her exact location. A companion document to the model legislation highlighted the need to track VoIP telephones, which are very easily moved. NENA has recommended that legislation be passed nationwide to address these issues. eTelemetry’s Locate911 Emergency Notification System (LENS) can alert multiple internal personnel of an emergency call via screen pop to a desktop, email, or SMS. The caller’s name, location, and even a floor plan of the premises can be provided in these On-Site Notification (OSN) alerts. This functionality can be leveraged to alert local first responders (front desk, security or facilities personnel) to an emergency so that they can quickly provide assistance where necessary, as well as to accurately direct emergency services. “eTelemetry’s E911 products provide vital location information, including building, floor, and room number, for a person who dials 911 from an MLTS. Millions of Americans work and study in environments with MLTS—states that implement NENA’s recommended legislation will save countless lives. We are proud to provide this essential service,” said Ermis Sfakiyanudis, eTelemetry’s President and CEO. Enterprise Open Source Magazine Latest Stories . . .
