ONE-NET has announced that Spansion has joined the ONE-NET open-source wireless networking alliance. Spansion joins a growing list of companies supporting the ONE-NET wireless standard. The ONE-NET wireless standard is an open source, multi-vendor wireless control protocol. Even though ONE-NET is a low-cost wireless control solution, it features a high level of security, excellent range, and low power consumption. ONE-NET's comprehensive design specification is distributed royalty-free, accelerating the availability and use of wireless connectivity in a wide variety of devices and applications. Source code examples for microcontrollers, schematics, and bills-of-materials for reference designs are readily available, and simple open-source licensing rules apply. ONE-NET can be implemented with a variety of off-the-shelf components from leading vendors such as Micrel, Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, Semtech, RF Monolithics, Integration Associates, Silicon Labs, Renesas, Freescale and now, Spansion. As the wireless sensor network for homes becomes more pervasive and intelligent, low cost, non-volatile data acquisition and storage for these sensors becomes increasingly important. Spansion's MirrorBit Flash memory and products lines such as the high density MirrorBit NOR GL family, low density Spansion AL family, and MirrorBit SPI FL serial Flash family are ideal matches for a range of wireless sensors.
