Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Transitive Expands Asia-Pacific Virtualization Business
Expands Asia-Pacific Business By Appointing ICE Systems as Regional Reseller for QuickTransit

"Virtualization is rapidly becoming the way forward in providing organizations huge flexibility to deploy multiple platforms under one management umbrella," said Neil Burgess of the ICT Solutions Team at ICE Systems upon the reseller agreement reached between Transitive and ICE Systems.

He continued, "QuickTransit, the leading cross-platform virtualization solution, offers customers the opportunity to more rapidly transition to current technologies, thus significantly reducing the costs associated with expensive legacy infrastructure."

As cross-platform virtualization is becoming accepted by CIOs and IT managers as a cost-effective solution for datacenter consolidation, workload replication, scalability, business continuity and legacy application migration, the level of international interest in QuickTransit has grown. To meet this demand, Transitive is expanding its network of resellers in regions such as Australia that are broadly adopting virtualization solutions.

"ICE Systems is a highly regarded Australian technology solution provider that will play a key role in delivering QuickTransit solutions to our customers in the region," said Steven Mih, vice president of worldwide sales for Transitive. "The company is off to a great start, since it has already made some QuickTransit sales to forward-thinking enterprise customers in Australia that have identified the immediate ROI benefits they can enjoy from deploying cross-platform virtualization solutions in their datacenters."

"ICE Systems has assisted many enterprise customers with their Linux migration strategies," said Neil Burgess of the ICT Solutions Team at ICE Systems. "Transitive provides a unique set of tools to assist in one aspect of this migration process. As one of the leading Linux advocates within Australia, ICE Systems believes that its partnership with Transitive is ideally suited to deliver benefits to customers in what can be a complex arena. By working closely with Transitive and using other emerging technologies, ICE Systems helps customer organizations move from historically slow and expensive environments to current technology platforms.”

Transitive's QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization solutions enable software applications to run on any hardware platform without any source code or binary changes, and at speeds comparable to native ports. By deploying QuickTransit on the latest enterprise server platforms, enterprise data center managers can replicate workloads that were previously tied to a single hardware platform and run them unmodified, without incurring the costs and delays of porting projects, and without disruption to end users.
