Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

3Leaf Unveils I/O Virtualization Solution Running On Industry Standard Servers
3Leaf Systems Qualifies HP ProLiant Server with Innovative, Software-Based V-8000

3Leaf Systems announced that the company has qualified the HP ProLiant DL 380 G5 to run the 3Leaf V-8000 enterprise I/O virtualization solution. The V-8000 is the first software-based I/O virtualization solution built to run seamlessly on industry standard servers, enabling enterprises to easily and cost-effectively virtualize server I/O resources to complement existing infrastructures.

“Our customers are demanding a versatile solution to run on servers they have already qualified to run their enterprise applications. With the V-8000 we allow them to address that need easily and cost-effectively,” says B.V. Jagadeesh, CEO, 3Leaf Systems. “Qualification of the HP ProLiant server with the 3Leaf software-based I/O virtualization solution marks an industry first, and is a key milestone in 3Leaf’s strategy to deliver flexible, seamless, cost-effective I/O virtualization for x86 server platforms.”

3Leaf Systems’ next-generation virtualization technology delivers flexibility and mainframe-class scalability to commodity servers while optimizing data center resources and dramatically reducing data center costs with up to a 60 percent reduction in both capital and operating expenditures. A key component of 3Leaf Virtual Compute Environment, the V-8000 virtualizes the I/O for a large pool of connected servers, enabling enterprises to consolidate their networking and storage I/O, removing the need for local NICs and HBAs, reducing the networking and storage port requirements, and greatly increasing resource utilization. In addition, the V-8000 significantly reduces the time to both provision and repurpose servers, delivering increased data center agility, flexibility, and centralized management.

3Leaf Systems is a member of the HP Developer & Solution Partner Program (DSPP).

3Leaf Systems Virtual Compute Environment
3Leaf Virtual Compute Environment is an advanced virtualization solution for the growing x86 server market that virtualizes compute, memory, and I/O resources. 3Leaf has licensed AMD’s Coherent HyperTransport technology, and Intel Corporation’s QuickPath Interconnect technology, enabling 3Leaf to support one hundred percent of the x86 server market.

3Leaf delivers a complete enterprise solution that fully virtualizes the CPU, memory, and I/O resources within the data center. This scalable, flexible, and dynamic data center infrastructure enables allocation of all server resources on demand, moving them in a just-in-time fashion to and from the applications, thereby maximizing resource usage and minimizing power consumption. This vastly simplifies management and allows businesses to effectively respond to spikes in utilization. As a result, data center infrastructure is more agile and flexible, and operational and capital costs are reduced.
