Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

itX Adds DataCore to Virtualization Portfolio
Partnership Broadens itX's Virtualization Solutions and Extends DataCore's Reach In Australia

DataCore announced that Australia-based itX has signed on as a new DataCore value-added distributor. itX offers an unmatched portfolio of virtualization solutions enabling their partners to fulfill customer demand for end-to-end virtualization, spanning desktops, servers and now storage with DataCore. The company offers high level pre-sales technical support and knowledgeable account management in conjunction with leading-edge technologies to meet the wide range of requirements needed to serve partners targeting small, mid size and large enterprises. "itX is a natural fit as a DataCore partner," said George Teixeira, president and CEO, DataCore Software. "We were attracted to itX because of their stellar track record with Citrix and VMware, among other virtualization providers. The relationship extends DataCore Software's distribution within Australia and brings additional value to resellers through itX's virtualization-focused product offerings, their acclaimed technical services and their commitment to quality of service."

Storage - The Key to End-to-End Virtualization
In becoming a distributor for DataCore Software, itX is building on its successful distribution partnerships with virtualization vendors Citrix, VMware and Vizioncore, as well as with other major IT vendors, including Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Red Hat. "DataCore Software extends the enduring benefits of going virtual all the way through to storage," said Greg Newham, itX General Manager. "By adding the industry's leading, storage and SAN infrastructure management software to our portfolio of virtualization solutions, itX broadens its ability to deliver cost-effective iSCSI or Fibre Channel-based SAN, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions."

Compelling Value - Fullest Use, Highest Availability, Fastest Performance
"DataCore makes it simple for users to virtualize their disks, achieve full utilisation of their storage investment, enhance performance and attain the highest levels of availability and data protection," states David Bull, Director, DataCore Australia. "DataCore's manufacturer-independent approach to delivering powerful SAN-wide features enables any vendor's storage to no longer be constrained by hardware limitations and short lifecycles - making it much easier to adapt to change and deploy, protect and migrate storage along with virtual servers, desktops and applications."

itX and DataCore - A Powerful Partnership to Fuel Virtualization Growth
"By signing on as a value-added distributor for DataCore Software, itX will promote and distribute DataCore's virtual storage, business continuity, disaster recovery and SAN software products to its network of resellers throughout Australia," said Peter Thompson, DataCore's Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific. "This new partnership is an extension of DataCore's global channel strategy to align with successful VMware and Citrix distributors in key high growth markets worldwide. Through itX, DataCore will gain market penetration and itX will have a new virtual infrastructure vendor that expands the virtualization opportunity for its partner base to include storage."

itX will distribute the full line of DataCore's storage virtualization, disaster recovery, and continuous data protection solutions. "DataCore is the virtual storage layer that rounds out a complete virtualization strategy," added Newham. "With DataCore, users can be confident that they have invested in a shared storage solution that will serve, manage and protect their storage for many years, surviving generations of hardware and providing storage with the same flexibility, ease of movement, cost savings and ease of administration that only a virtualization solution can provide."
