Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Evernote Announces Application for the Apple App Store
Evernote Announces Application for the Apple App Store

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/10/08 -- Evernote, a Web service with mobile and desktop clients designed to allow users to easily capture and find information, memories, and content in any environment, today announced its native iPhone application, Evernote for iPhone, which will be available free of charge on the Apple App Store at launch today.

"Developing a native iPhone version of Evernote has been a great experience and we're thrilled that the application will be available directly from the Apple App Store," said Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote. "The iPhone is an ideal platform for Evernote's concept of an external brain and thanks to powerful features such as location awareness, camera support and audio recording, the iPhone is now the perfect way to remember everything."

Evernote for iPhone is part of the cloud-based Evernote Service, which is designed to work as an extension of human memory. With Evernote, users can create, capture and find content across all the devices and platforms that they use. Evernote for iPhone takes advantage of the device's powerful features, such as location awareness, camera support, audio recording and Internet connectivity, to create a tool capable of capturing virtually any idea or experience as it occurs. In addition, Evernote for iPhone automatically synchronizes with all other versions of Evernote, including clients for Mac OS X, Windows, Web and other mobile devices, ensuring that all content and memories are accessible from anywhere.

Evernote for iPhone is a gateway to the Evernote Service, allowing users to easily find what they need. In addition to tagging and filtering capabilities, Evernote also performs advanced image recognition, making printed or handwritten text within images searchable. The Evernote recognition technology is optimized for camera-phone snapshots, which are often characterized by difficult lighting conditions and reduced clarity.

Evernote for iPhone will be available free of charge from Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/. After installing the application users will be directed to create an Evernote account.
