Unitus Selects Certeon's Virtualization Appliance in its Quest to Fight Global Poverty
Certeon Announced that Unitus has Selected Certeon's aCelera to Improve Remote File Accessibility Among its Global Users

Certeon announced that Unitus has selected Certeon's aCelera
to improve remote file accessibility among its global users. Certeon's aCelera
Virtual Appliance for Application Acceleration delivers acceleration as a
service through software inside a virtual infrastructure--an ideal solution for
enterprises looking to optimize remote access performance over the wide area
network (WAN).
Unitus needed to decrease the time it took to access files
between its data centers in Seattle, WA and Bangalore,
India. Unitus
was exchanging files between servers and making those files available to users
over the WAN using Microsoft SharePoint 2003 Server. Before choosing Certeon's
aCelera software, it considered and tested desktop cache programs and server
mirroring platforms. With aCelera, Unitus saw a greater than 88% reduction in
file server response time. aCelera software running in a virtualized
environment made it easy for Unitus to deploy acceleration to its global
locations, without the need to deploy a proprietary appliance. With aCelera,
Unitus was able to improve end user response times and create identical working
environments across global offices and teams, improving overall productivity.
"We were looking to provide equal levels of application
access and speed to users regardless of their location," said Holly R. Wielkoszewski,
IT Coordinator, Unitus. "Certeon's support for both application
acceleration over the WAN and VMware virtualization will enable us to provide
the same level of service to our global users and expand our overseas
locations."
aCelera Virtual Appliance software is a union of
virtualization and application acceleration technology and provides enterprises
with the combination of performance, scalability, flexibility and easy
management. It is only when you include acceleration in the virtual
infrastructure that you can gain the full ROI from virtualization. Certeon is a
VMware Select Technology Alliance Partner and its aCelera Virtual Appliance is
the first and only application acceleration appliance to have achieved
certification for VMware ESX and ESXi.
"aCelera enables global enterprises such as Unitus to
deliver application acceleration to all of its distributed users without the
need to add proprietary hardware appliances," states Peter Dougherty,
president and CEO, Certeon. "aCelera allows businesses to take full
advantage of the flexibility, scalability, and management benefits of
virtualization while maximizing response time performance so remote teams can
be more productive."
