EnterpriseDB Recruits New CEO from Red Hat
EnterpriseDB CEO Andy Astor Steps Aside so Ed Boyajian Can Take the Company to the Proverbial Next Level

EnterpriseDB co-founder and CEO Andy Astor has stepped aside so Ed Boyajian, brought in from Red Hat, can take the four-year-old company to the proverbial next level, they said.
Boyajian has been running Red Hat’s North American sales under one title or another for the last six years and he’s at EnterpriseDB to repeat the experience Red Hat Enterprise Linux has had during that time.

He’s not by background a database guy, but Fidelity Ventures, an EnterpriseDB backer, prizes him for his deep experience with open source software – before Red Hat he was VP, services and marketing at ArsDigita, the open source collaborative ISV Red Hat acquired – and for “his focus on driving revenues and building brands.”
He intends to focus on the enterprise developer, he said, wooing them to the company’s open source Postgres Plus for new architectures, new projects and new applications and playing to the widening gap between enterprise business demands and the IT budget.
EnterpriseDB currently claims 100 employees and 300 customers.
Astor will remain with the New Jersey-based company as executive VP, business development.
Boyajian plans to remain in
Boston, where the company’s CTO Bob Zurek is stationed.
Back at the ranch Mark Enzweiler, VP of channel sales, is stepping in to handle Ed’s job with support from Alex Pinchev, president, global sales, services and field marketing at Red Hat.
