Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Artech Launches GeneXus X to Expand Business Opportunities
GeneXus X Incorporates New Tools Aimed at Facilitating the Rapid Generation of Corporate Web 2.0 Applications

Artech launched GeneXus X, the tenth GeneXus version, designed to expand the business opportunities of companies. GeneXus X incorporates new tools aimed at increasing the productivity of the work team and facilitate the rapid generation of corporate Web 2.0 applications.

Breogán Gonda, President and founder of Artech, pointed out that “GeneXus X represents the greatest change in the history of GeneXus. This tenth version confirms, once again, that the knowledge-based development model works, and that it is, without a doubt, the model that will be adopted by the rest of the IT industry in the future.”

Gonda highlighted that “GeneXus X entails a qualitative leap in the way applications are created. Because it is easier to use, enhances work team collaboration, and automates more tasks, it makes it possible for programmers to take an almost entirely declarative approach and focus on the needs of users.

In addition, he called attention in particular to the importance of allowing programmers to remain relevant: “With GeneXus a programmer is never rendered obsolete, because the programmer’s main value resides in his or her knowledge of the business. It also enables easy recycling of old programmers who, with GeneXus, can very rapidly generate applications for new platforms and technologies.”

For his part, the Vice President and founder of Artech, Nicolás Jodal, explained “GeneXus X is seeking to achieve a new level of productivity in the generation of applications, which translates into a reduction of development times and maintenance costs. But, more importantly, it opens up a wide range of business opportunities for companies and software houses.”

In this sense, Jodal said that “GeneXus X means you will no longer have to put projects aside, leaving them in a drawer to gather dust, or risk losing potential clients.” With GeneXus you can obtain immediate results and create systems that from the moment of their inception will work on leading platforms in the market, and you will also be insured against technological changes.

Artech’s Vice-President also highlighted that “because of its extensibility, GeneXus X allows our users to market their own extensions among themselves. Moreover, it enables quick generation of complex Web 2.0 applications, which are in high demand in the corporate market.”

Generating Web 2.0-type applications manually demands a great deal of time and requires developers that can master the latest technologies. GeneXus X reduces the complexity involved in building these applications, achieving a higher quality product with less development time.
