Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Tail-f Systems and IP Infusion Partner to Deliver Carrier-Grade Solutions for Network Equipment Providers
Integration of ConfD and ZebOS Provides Standards-Based XML Management for Advanced Routing Protocols

Tail-f Systems and IP Infusion announced a strategic partnership to integrate their products and collaborate on sales and marketing.  Together the companies will enable network equipment providers to benefit from leading routing protocols managed by standards-based XML configuration management software.

“Modern enterprise and carrier networks are increasingly complex as they deliver innovative applications and services to their users,” said Mr. Koichi Narasaki, President and CEO for IP Infusion.  “Network equipment providers need powerful routing protocols with state-of-the-art configuration management software to effectively respond to their customers.  We are excited to work with Tail-f Systems to bring market leading offerings to the industry.”

Tail-f’s ConfD product provides key management interfaces including CLI, Web UI, SNMP, and NETCONF with a robust infrastructure to meet carrier-grade requirements for high availability and security.  ConfD is based on XML and implements the same transaction model used by the NETCONF standard for automated configuration management across all management interfaces. With NETCONF, enterprises and carriers are able to carryout multiple configuration steps as part of a single transaction with built-in safeguards to ensure valid and consistent network changes. This results in lower operating costs and fewer network outages.

“IP Infusion’s broad suite of networking protocols and unique modular architecture are widely adopted by networking equipment providers,” said Hakan Millroth, President and CEO, Tail-f Systems. “By integrating ConfD and ZebOS, we will be able to offer the industry a unified approach to configuration management, faster time-to-market, and reduced costs.”

IP Infusion’s Advanced Routing Suite (ARS) is a scalable, robust and standards-based Layer 2 and Layer 3 carrier-class switching and routing software solution that allows OEMs to rapidly add networking capabilities to their new or existing lines of communications products. The ZebOS ARS platform-independent architecture enables OEMs to choose from an array of protocols and solutions to add to their equipment offerings.

The companies are already able to demonstrate integration between ConfD and several of IP Infusion’s routing modules.  Development work to support full back-end integration and data modeling work is underway. In addition to work on product integration, the two companies will collaborate on marketing and sales initiatives.
