Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Nimsoft Unveils New Web 2.0 Online Portal to Drive IT Service Management
NimBUS Enterprise Console '2.0' Delivers Next Generation Dashboard Technology

Nimsoft, Inc. unveiled the NimBUS Enterprise Console '2.0,' a powerful online portal. It incorporates the next generation of intuitive dashboards built using Rich Internet Application technology that delivers dynamic views to help users track the health of their technology environment. The updated dashboard designer boasts new functions, such as a drag and drop capability to create extremely complex views with ease or the ability to fully customize backgrounds by adding different color schemes quickly. As companies continue to invest in IT infrastructure initiatives, particularly in the area of virtualization, the need to regularly and clearly monitor the underlying technology becomes even more demanding. The console will dramatically underscore the value that IT delivers across the business by empowering users to easily access real time IT service delivery information from any location.

Dashboards are a central element of the NimBUS Enterprise Console 2.0 and Nimsoft is the first IT performance and availability monitoring company to develop its entire dashboard offering using the advanced capabilities of Adobe Flex. The result is a stark contrast to the flat, two-dimensional dashboards commonly used. The sheer volume of information and data that needs to be monitored has begun to place a strain on static dashboards to accurately display and convey all the necessary information. By comparison, the use of graphical images in the new NimBUS dashboard to reflect an alarm state allows users to instantly assess the changing status of the IT infrastructure. The result is a dashboard that displays a wealth of new data in a simplified and insightful fashion.

The NimBUS Enterprise Console has been designed to meet the needs and requirements of both IT professionals as well as business users. The inclusion of an extensive designer toolkit allows IT professionals to tailor the way information is organized and presented to the wider business. For busy executives, the Nimsoft Enterprise Console offers a quick and easy way to view key IT service data in a manner that resonates with them. Key information can be rapidly accessed through the Enterprise Console using any browser that supports Adobe Flash, which has become the de-facto standard. The Enterprise Console is the first step in Nimsoft's vision to create a truly interactive online experience that will see the addition of mash up components.

"Our dashboards have always set Nimsoft apart from the competition. The inclusion of new Web 2.0 dashboards simply widens this gulf. The new dashboard technology will allow users to gain an even more comprehensive insight into their IT infrastructure. There are also a range of additional features that will appeal to large enterprises and mid-market companies alike. Importantly, the dynamic views will create greater trust and transparency between the IT department and the wider business as users can easily equate system availability with end user satisfaction. The adoption of rich internet application technologies moves our dashboard offering into a new league and ensures that our customers are equipped with a workspace that provides more than just a window into their IT environment," said Gary Read, president and CEO, Nimsoft. "Enhanced infrastructure management comes about through the subtle combination of a robust monitoring engine and an intuitive graphical display. With the latest version of NimBUS and the investment that we have made in our new dashboards, we have delivered the necessary components to allow businesses to upgrade their infrastructure monitoring capabilities. It is another example of why more and more customers are turning their backs on the Big 4 and opting for a simple yet sophisticated monitoring solution from Nimsoft," he added.
