The island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, commonly known as the “culinary capitol of the Caribbean,” is pleased to announce the third annual running of the St. Maarten/St. Martin Classic Yacht Regatta from January 17th – 20th.

The regatta, which features traditional style sailboats, will feature three-days of racing that pits the intrepid competitors on a course that circumvents the island, making stops in such scenic locales as Simpson Bay, Marigot and Great Bay.

“We’re thrilled to host the third annual Classic Yacht Regatta,” said Regina LaBega, Director of Tourism for the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau. “This colorful event brings to life the excitement and grace of yachting to everyone, and offers visitors new to the sport a firsthand introduction to these beautiful ships.” 

In addition to the sailing, the St. Maarten/St. Martin Classic Yacht Regatta will also feature exciting on-shore entertainment in the three host ports. Beginning in Marigot on the Friday, January 18th, Fort Louis Marina will be home to live entertainment and a chance to see the competing “classics” up-close and personal as they dock for the night in this port town. On Saturday, January 19th the excitement moves to Great Bay where

Pasanggrahan Royal Guest House will act as the “Regatta Village” and Front Street in Philipsburg will be host to live entertainment and special events. The regatta comes to a close in Simpson Bay on January 20th with a silent auction, the official award ceremony and closing party.
