7/11 - Sybase announced that EAServer achieved record-breaking price-performance results, better than BEA, IBM, Oracle, and all other application servers, on a single-node configuration in the independent ECperf benchmark. ECperf is the industry-standard benchmark that measures the scalability and performance of application servers and the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition. New PowerBuilder Books
7/4 - A number of authors - including a number of PBDJ editors and authors - are working on two new books on PowerBuilder development slated for a release approximately the same time that PB9 is released. One book covers advanced client/server development techniques, while the other focuses on distributed development. iForce Solution for Economical Data Management
6/26 - Sybase and Sun Microsystems announced that they are bringing highly scalable, enterprise-strength data processing power to small- and mid-market businesses through the new "iForce Solution for Economical Data Management." The solution, which will be delivered through the iForce channel partners, provides enterprise-strength data management, analytical ability, and disaster recovery functionality at PC server prices to businesses that previously may not have been able to afford such a solution. This combination of Sun Fire servers and Sybase software has been pretested and integrated to help customers reduce risk and speed time to implementation to more quickly realize a return on IT investment.

7/10 - Financial Fusion, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced that Celent Communications ranked Financial Fusion as the number one provider of online banking solutions for large financial institutions with assets greater than $20 billion. The report, "Ranking the U.S. Vendors of Internet Banking Solutions," published in June 2002, provides an analysis of Internet banking solutions from 11 leading vendors.

Revised Earnings Estimate
7/3 - Sybase lowered its earning estimates, indicating that revenues for the second quarter would likely be approximately $205 million versus the approximately $215 million the company had projected earlier. The company attributed the softness in top-line revenues to persistent weakness in the overall economy. Nonetheless, the company also indicated that it expects second quarter pro forma earnings per share (EPS) of approximately $0.24, in line with analyst expectations.

ASA Anywhere Certification Exam
7/1 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced a new certification exam for Adaptive Server Anywhere 8 - a key component of SQL Anywhere Studio. This certification is part of the Sybase Certified Professional Program and demonstrates proficiency in designing, developing, implementing, and administering Adaptive Server Anywhere 8 databases.

Tigerex Network
6/17 - Sybase announced that it provided world-class integration technology to power the Tigerex Network - a global financial network that enables domestic financial brokers to execute trades across multiple foreign markets more efficiently. Powered by New Era of Networks e-Biz Integrator, Biz Tracker, and FIX Adapter, the Tigerex Network allows domestic brokers and investors to route a foreign market trade in the trader's currency of choice to an execution broker and global custodian for execution, settlement, and custody of the security.
