(March 31, 2003) - Newly introduced, webMethods GEAR 6 is a comprehensive implementation methodology for webMethods 6 integration platform. GEAR 6 consists of a proven set of best practices, white papers, templates, and tools to provide a roadmap for fast, successful deployments of webMethods 6. GEAR is an acronym for the four phases of the integration lifecycle (Gather requirements, Explore, Assemble, Roll out). GEAR 6 is available to webMethods' customers and partners free of charge via the webMethods Advantage extranet community Web site (http://advantage.webmethods.com.) under the best practices category. It addresses the full integration lifecycle, from planning to full production. The methodology provides templates and white papers for deliverables such as project plans, design documentation and various technical topics such as configuration management, security and high availability guidelines. GEAR also includes project suggestions covering everything from integration competency centers to offshore methodologies, collaborative development and strategies for achieving and measuring return on investment.
