Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

The intensive, one-day hands-on training program will teach how to build Rich Internet Applications with Flex

Flex Developer Bootcamp is an intensive, one-day hands-on training program that will teach Web developers and designers how to build Rich Internet Application using Flex. The one-day bootcamp will take place on June 24, 2007, at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

Flex Developer Bootcamp is a hands-on workshop that is not offered anywhere else: during this day attendees will  create two fully functional applications. This workshop will be taught by Flex experts from Farata Systems – Yakov Fain and Dr. Victor Rasputnis, who are using Flex in the real-world projects and are co-authors of the book Developing RIA with Adobe Flex and Java.

Pre-requisites: working knowledge of any object-oriented programming language.

Each student has to bring his/her laptop with pre-installed trial version of Flex Builder, Flex Data Services and MySql database (instructions will be  provided).

What is Flex?
From the same company that brought you the most pervasive software in the history of the Internet, Flash, comes another revolutionary solution to create even more powerful and intuitive user experiences. Adobe Flex 2 is a complete, powerful application development solution for creating and delivering cross-platform rich Internet applications (RIAs), within the enterprise and across the web. Not until now has there been a way for enterprise programmers and architects to work with existing tools of choice, familiar programming models and integration with existing systems and infrastructure. Multi-step processes, client-side processing, direct manipulation and data visualization are all key factors in the Flex solution.

What is New in Flex 3?
Flex 2 gives developers the power to extend the reach of their RIAs beyond the browser to the desktop using the new Adobe® Integrated Runtime (AIR), formerly code-named Apollo. Using the new Flex Builder 3 and Adobe AIR software, now developers can create more engaging, higher-performing applications that run both in the browser and on the desktop.

What Attendees of Real-World Flex Had to Say:
“This was really an excellent seminar. Its strength was that it did not focus on just one aspect of Flex, but rather several - RIA capabilities, Flex-Java integration, user interface design, web services with Flex, next generation Flex. I would hope that future seminars would preserve this diversity of perspectives.”

“It was good to see the level of interest in Flex. It was also reassuring to see the kinds of things that are possible with serious Flex development.”

“In general, I found the presentations inspiring.”

“It was a great experience”

“I thought the seminar was excellent.”

First Flex Developer Bootcamp Took Place in New York City
At Manhattan's historic Roosevelt Hotel, Yakov Fain (Adobe Certified Flex Instructor) and Dr. Victor Rasputnis, co-authors of the book RIAs with Adobe Flex and Java are leading today the first of the 2007 series of 'Flex Developer Bootcamp' - AJAXWorld University's intensive, one-day hands-on training program aimed at teaching Web developers and designers how to build Rich Internet Application using Flex.

At Flex Developer Bootcamp, a hands-on workshop not offered anywhere else, the crowded room of delegates will in the course of the day create two fully functional Flex applications.

The bootcamp was one of two being held in conjunction with AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, in NYC from March 19-21.
