Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

SYS-CON Events Announces Web Services Edge 2002 World Tour Tutorial Series
One-Day Intensified Web Services Tutorials for Developers Kick Off in Boston, Then Travel To Washington DC, New York & San F

Montvale, NJ, January 15, 2002 - SYS-CON Events, Inc. (www.sys-con.com), headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, announced today the dates and locations of a new Tutorial Series in preparation for SYS-CON's Web Services Edge 2002 - International Web Services Conference & Expo. Web Services Edge 2002 World Tour's first leg is entitled "Developing SOAP Web Services…" and is exclusively sponsored by Systinet Corporation.

An intense one-day tutorial aimed at the Java developer community, it is designed to equip professional developers with all the tools and information they need to immediately begin creating, deploying, and using their own Web Services. Expert practitioners will take an applied approach, and cover base technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, and XML, as well as more advanced topics such as security, J2EE integration, exposing legacy systems, and integrating Web Services into an existing IT infrastructure. Attendees will receive free copies of all the software used during the tutorial to create example Web Services as well as discount certificates to register for this year's Web Services Edge 2002 East or West International Web Services Conference & Expo. The international conferences will be held June 24-27, 2002 at Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, and October 1-3, 2002, at the San Jose Convention Center, in California.

Web Services Edge 2002 World Tour tutorials, produced by SYS-CON Events, grew out of the great success of a recent one-day presentation by Systinet at Web Services Edge 2001 West held in Santa Clara, CA.

"In a recently published poll, over 65% of i-Technology managers reported that they plan to use Web Services in the next year, rising to over 85% over the next two years," said Anne Thomas Manes, Systinet CTO and the featured presenter of the tutorial. "There's enormous demand for practical how-to information and tools to help developers exploit the potential of Web Services." The Web Services Edge 2002 World Tour will offer the prime source of knowledge in this area.

"This program is an extension of our commitment to the i-Technology professionals who are the readers of our Web Services Journal, Java Developer's Journal, and XML-Journal and the attendees our annual international conferences and expos," said Cathy Walters, vice president of SYS-CON Events, Inc. "This tutorial series will provide essential face-to-face educational venues for i-Technology professionals in and around the cities we have selected for the tour, and will help jump-start an immediate skill set for those planning to attend our 2002 International Web Services conferences later in the year."
