Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

SYS-CON's Java Developer's Journal Ranks #1 in Evans Data Developer Survey
Developers Who Use Java and Surveyed by Evans Data Corporation Selected Java Developer's Journal as the "Most Trusted Developer

Montvale, NJ, November 13, 2001 - SYS-CON Media (www.sys-con.com) the world's leading i-technology publisher, announced today that Java Developer's Journal has been ranked number 1 as "the most trusted developer publication" among developers who use Java. The research results were published in the Evans Data Developer Marketing Patterns 2001 Annual Report, an independent market research report prepared by Evans Data Corporation, a leading market research firm serving software and developer markets.

"We are very pleased to see, in our sixth year of publication, that Java Developer's Journal continues to serve the fast-growing Java developer community as the hands-down leader of quality Java information in the world. JDJ's unmatched leadership is not based solely on its circulation -which is larger than all other Java publications put together- but also on the high quality of its editorial content," said Alan Williamson, editor-in-chief of Java Developer's Journal. "The Evans Data report confirms what we hear from our readers and JDJ's sponsors and advertising partners every day."

"As of June 2001, Java Developer's Journal's six-month average circulation reached another record, 97,325 copies, and the most current month's circulation in our BPA statement jumped to over 104,000 copies," said Carmen Gonzalez, SYS-CON's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "According to our circulation audit statement, our six-month average circulation exceeded our rate base of 60,000 by more than 37,000 copies, which itself is larger than some of our competitors' entire circulation.

"Our advertising partners are getting an unmatched value for their advertising dollars invested in Java Developer's Journal," continued Gonzalez. "We strongly believe that we cover the entire Java advertising market, including our competitors' reach, at a fraction of the cost. This saves our partners a considerable amount of money by removing the need to advertise in multiple magazines."

"Unlike our competitors, JDJ never promised a rate base to its advertisers and came up with a lower actual circulation in its audit statement," said Engin Sezici, circulation manager for Java Developer's Journal. "After five months and as of November 12, 2001, Java Pro's June 2001 circulation audit statement was still not available at the BPA International Web site. Therefore we can't make direct current comparisons for the most recent audit period. However, at the last audit statement (June 2000), Java Report (no longer in print) delivered a little over 23,000 six-month average circulation where they promised a rate base of 30,000, and Java Pro also promised a rate base of 30,000 and delivered only a little over 24,000 six-month average circulation. For this period, JDJ delivered a 67,000 copy circulation on a 60,000 rate base."
