Developer Conference & Expo and Web Services Edge 2001 International Web Services Conference & Expo East - will be held as planned. The dual conference and expo will be held September 23-26 at the Hilton New York. The SYS-CON Events Team issued the following statement to its conference attendees.

The tragedies that occurred in New York, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and Boston have shaken up far more than those areas. Today we are still reeling from the pain and, while we know that this too shall pass,it will never be forgotten. The famous New York City skyline, now destroyed, will remain a constant reminder of everyone and everything that's been lost.

However, the terrorists have failed to destroy the American spirit. This has been clear in the past 48 hours as injured firefighters lie in hospitals, begging to go back to "Ground Zero," and tens of thousand of people line up for up to seven hours to give blood.

After careful and heartfelt consideration and consultations with government officials, as well as our key partners in the events, we have decided to go ahead with all conference activities scheduled for Web Services Edge 2001 East and JDJEdge 2001. The conference will be held as planned at the Hilton New York, September 23-26. The Hilton New York is located in upper midtown at 1335 Avenue of the Americas, between W.53rd and W.54th Streets. (Currently, the city is restricted just south of 14th Street, and is expected to be re-opened by next week.)

In making this decision, we took into account the message that our political, spiritual, and industry leaders have stressed: we can't let a vicious act committed by a few evil people change our way of life.

We also took into account that over a year of planning has gone into this event. Thousands of people and companies are involved. The presentations on both exhibitor and speaker fronts represent the very finest state-of-the-art technology available--to be shared by all those who want to advance in their fields.

Yesterday we received calls from attendees, speakers, and exhibitors all over the country, and throughout the world, who voiced these same sentiments.

We look forward to seeing all of you on September 23-26. Together we will represent the very best that the world has to offer.
