Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

SYS-CON Media Announces MX Developer's Journal
MXDJ to be Distributed to More Than 2 Million Macromedia MX Developers Using Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FreeHand, ColdFusio

(Montvale, NJ, August 25, 2003) - SYS-CON Media, the world's leading i-technology publisher, today announced its latest highly anticipated new title, MX Developer's Journal (www.MXDevelopersJournal.com), which will launch on September 10, 2003. This announcement comes as Macromedia today unveiled its MX 2004 product line, featuring new versions of Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks, as well as the new Flash MX Professional 2004, which provides additional features for advanced Flash developers.

Targeted at the professional developers and designers who use the award-winning Macromedia MX product family to build web sites and applications, MXDJ will be available this fall on newsstands and in specialty bookstores such as Barnes & Noble and Borders.

"We are delighted with today's announcement that MX Developer's Journal will serve Macromedia's core customer base," said Fuat Kircaali, founder & CEO of SYS-CON Media. "Our premier issue will provide the highest-quality information to the millions of known and potential MX developers around the globe. This MXDJ announcement follows our successful six-year media partnership with Macromedia's first and only print ColdFusion magazine, ColdFusion Developer's Journal (www.coldfusionjournal.com) and the largest ColdFusion-specific e-zine, CFAdvisor (www.cfadvisor.com)."

"Macromedia is committed to maintaining an active dialogue with our customers, because the success of our products was built on learning from and teaching one another," said Norm Meyrowitz, president of products, Macromedia. "MX Developer's Journal is another strategic piece of that community, as we work together to create great digital experiences. It is coming at an important time as we just unveiled our new MX 2004 product family, which is shipping next month. We can't wait to see what developers do with these new products."

"MX Developer's Journal has six distinct editorial sections, broadly corresponding to the six principal members of the MX product family," said Jeremy Geelan, group publisher of SYS-CON Media. "Each section is edited by a recognized expert in the field. MXDJ's Dreamweaver Editor, David McFarland, is an author of the bestselling work, Dreamweaver MX: The Missing Manual. Our Flash Editors are multimedia engineer and Flash developer, Jesse Warden, and flashcore.com founder, John Tidwell. The ColdFusion Editor is the popular editor, speaker, writer, and developer, Robert Diamond. The Fireworks editor is Kleanthis Economou of Project Fireworks. Freehand, and Director sections of the magazine are managed by two top editors, who are also renowned as leading experts in their fields."

MX Developer's Journal Editorial Coverage

Each issue of MXDJ will include:

  • Hands-on tutorials covering every aspect -- even the "gotchas" -- of Flash, Flash Professional, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FreeHand, ColdFusion, and Director.
  • Full and constantly updated information on the overall Macromedia MX architecture.
  • Experience Reports on leading sites that already use Rich Internet Applications to engage customers - so developers can have access to typical end-user feedback from the get-go.
  • Insightful technical articles and feature stories on how best to harness the MX family of technologies to write and deliver apps across all major platforms and devices.
  • Success stories - showcasing Fortune 500 companies already using Macromedia MX to deliver Rich Internet Applications to leverage their existing infrastructure and support the development of maintainable solutions.
  • Product reviews and previews of upcoming releases within the Macromedia family.
  • How-to programming tips / code listings.
  • Show reports from the most recent FlashForward and Macromedia MAX events.
  • The Blog Spot - a round-up of the most insightful entries from the month's Macromedia weblogs.
  • "MX World" - industry news and announcements.

MXDJ will be published bimonthly in 2003, and monthly from January 2004.

"Developers designing web sites and applications are going to turn first to MX Developer's Journal for their information needs," said Robyn Forma, advertising director of SYS-CON Media. "There is little doubt that MXDJ is going to mirror the Macromedia success story. It will be the world's first true direct advertising vehicle for Macromedia partners who wish to showcase their applications, extensions, and services to the developer market those who influence purchasing decisions."
