Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Montvale, NJ, February 27, 2001 -- SYS-CON Media's (www.sys-con.com) third annual JDJ Readers' Choice Awards poll to select the best Java, XML, Wireless and Linux products in 23 different award categories, attracted more than 17,000 JDJ readers and software professionals in its first four weeks of voting. JDJ readers can cast their votes through May 31, 2001. Finalists and winners will be announced at SYS-CON Radio's live broadcast (http://www.sys-con.com/interviews.cfm) from the JavaOne show floor on Monday, June 4, 2001. The awards ceremony will take place September 25, at the JavaEdge 2001 International Java Developer Conference & Expo (www.JavaEdge2001.com) in New York City.

The JDJ Readers' Choice Awards has become the most respected program of its kind and is informally referred to as the “Oscars of the software industry.” Last year more than 20,000 JDJ readers participated in selecting the best Java products of the year; this year, the number is expected to double to over 40,000 readers software professionals. Award nominations also reached a record high, with more than 180 companies nominating over 350 products in 23 categories. This year, JDJ added seven new categories including “Best Wireless Software,” “Best XML Software” and “Best Linux Software.”

“For the past two years, the votes cast have been independently audited for accuracy by BPA International, the leading magazine industry audit firm,” said Sean Rhody, founding editor and chief corporate editor of JDJ. “So far, this year more than 5,000 illegal votes have been removed from entry, but final results and winners will not be known until the end of the voting process.”
