Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Agresso's 'BLINC' Category Throws Gauntlet Down to ERP Leaders
Company's New Cross-Vertical Market Approach Resonating with Mid-Market Buyers

VICTORIA, B.C., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Agresso (http://www.agresso.com/usa), the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market's definition of agility, is increasingly winning deals against the market's 'big three' enterprise software leaders -- Oracle, SAP and Microsoft -- by exploiting a new cross-vertical market segment it established last summer, Businesses Living IN Change (BLINC)(TM). Announcing a 75 percent win ratio in mid-market deals pre-qualified as dynamic, change-oriented organizations, Agresso is currently number five in the revenue rankings and poised to move up.

"It's been no surprise that we are winning in Europe where our roots are and where we have established leadership, but I expect that when we took that multi-million dollar public sector deal away from Microsoft this month, there were a lot of raised eyebrows in Seattle," said John Scott, vice president of sales, Agresso North America. (See Agresso press release issued today, "U.N. Agency Inks $3.2 Million Deal with Agresso.") "We have three more just like that in the pipeline and we are basically just getting going here in North America."

In July 2006, Agresso formally entered the U.S. and Canadian market after identifying a recurring complaint of high post-implementation costs by buyers of enterprise resource planning solutions. The complaint was particularly acute in people-centric organizations, such as professional services firms and public sector organizations, where established leaders have been notoriously difficult and expensive to change.

A January 2007 paper, "IDC Analyst Connection" entitled, "Making ERP More Adaptable to Business Change" answered the question, "What kind of application architecture do companies need to better deal with change?"

"People tend to think that if you have a services-oriented architecture (SOA), you automatically have a system that's adaptable, changeable, flexible and so on. What they need to recognize is, 'not so fast.' It's a leap from looking at the way the underlying components or services of an application are made to assume that, in and of itself, SOA gives you the ability to change the application as much as desired. It doesn't," reports Henry Morris, group vice president and general manager of Integration, Development and Application Strategies, IDC, who is quoted in the report.

While Agresso offers a services-oriented architecture to buyers, company executives also agree there has been a mistaken perception that SOA technology alone will solve the recurring complaint of expensive, hard-to-change ERP implementations.

Agresso's New 'Agile Business' Magazine Cites Case Studies

Documenting specific examples of BLINC organizations using Agresso solutions to navigate change, Agresso has published "Agile Business" (Autumn 2006/Winter 2007). The magazine features case histories on how organizations from across the commercial sector, including the world's sixth-largest ad agency, a 6,000-employee design firm and a global services leader in 37 countries, tackle change successfully through their ERP solution.

With feature articles on "The Morphing Challenges of Corporate Governance," interested readers will find numerous business experts and corporate executives quoted on their experiences. The publication is available for download at http://www.agresso.com/USA or by calling Agresso at 888-247-3776 or 888-AGRESSO.
