How can financial data from the Internet and from legacy enterprise systems be easily manipulated to bring that information into one browser where it will be viewed and reviewed under multiple lenses, bringing new information to light as different factors are added to the mix? This is one of the questions that will be answered by Hideki Hiura, chief scientist and CTO of JustSystems, Inc., when he gives a session at SOA Web Services Edge 2007 in June in New York City. Hiura is a founder and chairperson of the OpenI18N.org/Free Standards Group, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the use of free and open source software by developing and promoting standards. He will explain in his session, called "The Business Value of Bringing XBRL into the SOA Fold," the importance of visualizing financial data and controlling the information channels with dynamic XBRL software. "Users of financial data, including investors, analysts, financial institutions and regulators, will learn how to receive, compare and analyze data much more efficiently via the XBRL standard," Hiura says. He will show how a key component of the XBRL Solution is a visual mashup layer. "The dynamic visual display and ease-of-use technology adds value by making it simpler for business users to digest complex data and pass it on in the same format," he adds. Hiura is also a founding member of W3C I18N WG. Prior to JustSystems, as an architect at Sun, he was involved with variety of standards and standard organizations including ISO, W3C, OMG, The Open Group, OSF, Unix International, X Consortium and Unicode.
