Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

HIMSS 13 Product Launch: Ciphertex Announces 24TB Portable Encrypted NAS Server for Medical Offices

Ciphertex, a leading international provider of external HHD and portable encryption network attached storage (NAS) server systems, today announced the CX-6K-MD, a 24TB portable secure NAS server capable of storing more than two million medical images. The NAS server is designed for medical offices and can transmit fully encrypted data using AES 256-bit encryption at an incredibly fast 1,000 megabytes per second over a 10 GbE network.

Ciphertex's new CX-6K-MD portable NAS server with automatic AES 256-bit encryption holds 24 TB of data, enough for two million medical images and weighs less than 15 lbs. It can be used as a backup center and for disaster recovery. (Photo: Business Wire)

The new Ciphertex CX-6K-MD will be showcased during HIMSS 13 at the Ciphertex exhibit booth #3978 along with the company’s full line of encrypted digital storage solutions which range from a 1TB pocket drive to 48 TB, expandable, rack-mount network servers. Ciphertex’s unique systems have an extra level of protection which range from a detachable hardware key to multiple levels of authentication and sophisticated encryption algorithms.

“The new Ciphertex CX-6K-MD server is small, lightweight and ultrafast. It is designed for hospitals, physician offices, emergency rooms and surgical centers that need a secure portable NAS server for disaster recovery and business continuity. It encrypts data as it enters the server using the AES 256-bit encryption, the same standard used by U.S. military; it supports current HIPAA requirements for securing data and provides protection against cybercrime,” said Jerry Kaner, CEO of Los Angeles-based Ciphertex.

The Ciphertex CX-6K-MD server enables lightning fast transfer of EHR and EMR files, medical images, surgical video and other data. The server, which serves as both IP-SAN (iSCSI) and NAS, can be used in different applications such as backup center, disaster recovery and business continuity, file sharing and virtualization. It offers advanced RAID configuration with hot-swap capability.

The new NAS server is packed with security features to stop all unauthorized data access and prevent data-breach even if the hard drives or the device is stolen. The dual OS embedded on the DOM architecture ensures redundancy. If one of the two operating systems fails, the healthy operating system will boot up and operate normally while repairing the failed system. The dual Gigabit LAN ports can also be configured for failover which allows the Ciphertex CK-6K-MD to sustain the failure of one network port and still provide continuous service.

The Ciphertex CX-6K-MD is VMware certified, Citrix XenServer ready and Windows Hyper-V compliant. With an advanced Intel® Core i3-3220, dual core processor with 3.3 GHz, 2 GB DDR3 memory, it enables fast data transfers directly to any workstation via its 1Gb/E or 10GbE interface and connects to external devices over eSATA or USB-3. The portable NAS Server units are available with an airtight, watertight, shatter-resistant field kit.

About Ciphertex

Ciphertex provides portable, secure NAS servers for the healthcare, government, forensic, movie and oil and gas markets. Ciphertex’s award-winning technology was created with input from the FBI and other agencies to prevent cybercrime.

Ciphertex systems are sold around the world; see http://www.ciphertex.com.
