OfficeMax Named 2012 Compuware Best of the Web Award Winner
OfficeMax.com Ranked among Leading Retailers For Outstanding Website Performance

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax.com, the retail website for OfficeMax® Incorporated (NYSE:OMX), a leader in office supplies, technology and services and the nation's 12th largest retailer online1, today was named a 2012 Best of the Web award winner. The fourth annual Best of the Web Compuware Application Performance Awards showcase leaders in web and mobile site performance across several major industries nationwide.

OfficeMax was honored as the 2012 Compuware Best of the Web Silver award winner in the retail category. The award is based on OfficeMax.com's average year-long performance in product order transaction, which is determined by the speed, availability and consistency of going to the website to search and select a product, adding it to the shopping cart, logging in to a shopping account and reviewing the order before purchase.

"Delivering an excellent online shopping experience for our customers is essential to building deeper relationships with them to drive long-term brand loyalty," said Jim Barr, OfficeMax executive vice president and chief digital officer.  "So, we're very pleased to receive validation from Compuware that our site performance is top-notch."

"This Compuware award further reinforces that our customers are seeing continuous improvement throughout every step of our shopping experience," added Randy Burdick, OfficeMax executive vice president and chief information officer.  "Performance is crucial in the online retail marketplace, so our team is very proud to provide an award-winning shopping experience for our customers."

"Users' expectations for their online experience continue to grow. They expect sites to be engaging and interactive while also being available, fast and consistent, regardless of the device and browser they use, where they are located, or their connection type," said John Van Siclen, general manager of Compuware's APM business unit. "These expectations are being driven by their experiences with Internet leaders like OfficeMax that have set the standard for delivering Web experiences that meet users expectations."

OfficeMax has been rolling out ongoing website and search engine upgrades throughout 2012 to help customers shop faster, with more accurate search and recommendation results for a more productive online shopping experience.  Since the upgrades, OfficeMax.com has experienced a rise in conversion rate and customer satisfaction around site navigation, which has allowed customers to view more products with fewer searches, validating that consumers are finding the products they want with less effort.

The ongoing site upgrades are among many ongoing improvements to OfficeMax's e-commerce platforms to improve the customer shopping experience and build brand loyalty.

Available on February 21st, the "Best of the Web: 2012 Compuware Application Performance Awards" report showcases the leaders in site performance across six industries – retail, banking, brokerage, travel, media, and insurance – based on Compuware's performance benchmark analysis in 2012. The report highlights how each award winner sets the industry standard for providing a Web or mobile site experience that enhances customer satisfaction.
