Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

HomeRun Indoor MDU Cabling Solution Reduces Installation Steps
Helps Save Time and Labour

LONDON, Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OFS, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative fibre optic network products, introduces the HomeRun Indoor MDU Cabling Solution to the European, Middle East and African (EMEA) markets.  The HomeRun MDU Cabling System, a FOX Solution™ component set, is designed to reduce installation steps and connections, enabling faster, easier, lower loss, and less expensive fibre deployment in multiple dwelling unit (MDU) buildings.

"MDU owners desire faster installation to avoid disturbing tenants. Service providers seek to lower both installation labour and optical loss in FTTH networks. The HomeRun Solution meets these needs through faster installation with lower loss by eliminating intermediate connections between riser and floor cabling," said Jason Pedder, Director Product Marketing, EMEA Cable and Connectivity for OFS. The OFS HomeRun Solution cable consists of individual drops bundled in one sheath enabling multiple compact drop cables to be easily pulled up a riser and down a hallway in a single step. The solution can be installed in moldings or above suspended ceilings.  The individual drop is removed from the sheath and terminated with a mechanical or fusion splice on connector and connected in the OFS SlimBox™ module.

Traditional solutions require difficult field bundling and pulling of large diameter multiple drop cables assemblies up a riser and down a hallway, or installing two segments of connectorized cable in the riser and hallway with the addition of a distribution panel.

The HomeRun solution features OFS' ultra-bend-insensitive EZ-Bend Fibre, which offers less than 0.1 dB of added loss at 1550 nm for 1 turn at a 5 mm bend radius, and is compatible with today's installed base of fibres. The use of EZ-Bend fibre assemblies allows for sharp bends and conformal routing to reduce visual impact and fit in the confined spaces typical in many MDUs and residences.

The HomeRun solution is being presented at the FTTH conference in London 20-21 February at OFS' Gold Sponsorship stand, G18, and is generally available now.
