The threats from sea pirates in the Gulf of Aden is increasing by the day; apart from exposing the ships & sailors to the risk of hijack it has also added to the cost of shipping in this part of the world and the western half of the globe. The cost of Insurance of sea vessels has gone up considerably because of the piracy risk.

In its bid to provide protection against sea piracy, MKU has developed Light Weight Armour Solutions for naval vessels in the form of retrofit modular kits. These kits provide protection against small fires and fragments and are extremely easy to install and remove depending on the sailing conditions of the high seas. These modular kits require perpetually little or no maintenance. Being light weight these kits don't put heavy demand on engines and payloads for small naval vessels is only marginally compromised, which is negligible, keeping in mind the protection they stand to offer.

MKU has recently supplied a considerable number of these kits to coast guards for fast interceptor boats and patrol vessels including frigates and other similar types of vessels involved in littoral patrolling and also safeguarding merchant ships on high seas. MKU has considerable experience in providing armour solutions for ACV's or hovercrafts, as they are better known.
