Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Aberdeen Group Publishes IT Security and IT Infrastructure Research
Research Examines IT GRC, IT Hiring, IT Certification, SaaS Data Loss, and Virtualization

BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/13/13 -- Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced the publication of new research reports from its IT Security and IT Infrastructure research practices.

Aberdeen's IT Security and IT GRC practice published a three-part series on current trends in building and maintaining a security, risk and compliance workforce, based on insights from a 4Q2012 survey of more than 100 organizations. In "Hiring in IT Security, Risk and Compliance: The Current and Future Skills Shortage," vice president and research fellow Derek Brink noted that implications of a current and future shortage of hands-on skills include growth in software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployment models, increased reliance on professional services for highly specialized skills and industry-specific experience, increased investments in professional certifications, and increased investments in security awareness and training. To access a complimentary copy of this report, please visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8328/SI-information-technology-hiring.aspx

In "Hiring in IT Security, Risk and Compliance: What Companies Want (and Where They'll Find It)," Brink writes that the most important attributes in hiring candidates -- and simultaneously the most difficult to find -- include industry experience and specific technical skills, along with professional certifications and formal education. Successful enterprise security and compliance initiatives also rely on "softer" skills, however, such as communication, cross-functional facilitation, and the ability to influence without direct authority. In "Hiring in IT Security, Risk and Compliance: Do Certifications Matter?," co-authored with research associate Matthew York, Aberdeen notes that market conditions and hiring preferences imply a growth in professional certifications, as well in as professional services companies that provide certified professionals to the market. To access a complimentary copy of this report, please visit http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8330/SI-information-technology-hiring.aspx.

"SaaS Data Loss: The Problem You Didn't Know You Had," one of two reports authored this month by Dick Csaplar, Senior Research Analyst for the Aberdeen IT Infrastructure/ Virtualization and the Cloud research practice, shows that most SaaS vendors protect the data only against major disasters but provide no protection for inadvertent end-user over-write or application data contention. End users are encouraged to contract for full back up and protection of their mission critical SaaS data. Next from Csaplar, "Optimizing Business Performance: Why Every C-level Manager Should Care About Virtualization" shows that organizations are receiving many operational and financial benefits from deploying virtualization technologies. The report provides details on how server, storage and desktop virtualization technologies are transforming IT, making them more of a business partner to the lines of business. Every C-level manager that wants a closer and more directed relationship with IT should care about virtualization.
