Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

NextFort Selects Toshiba for Highly Efficient UPS System
Industry-Leading Energy Efficiency Powers NextFort Innovative Business Model Focused on Reduced Operating Costs

PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 02/12/13 -- NextFort Ventures Chandler, LLC, owner and operator of a first-of-its-kind modular data center, today announced the selection of Toshiba International Corporation as the supplier of highly efficient uninterruptible power systems (UPS) being deployed in NextFort's new 180,000 square foot data center in Chandler, AZ.

The Toshiba G9000 UPS is the flagship series from Toshiba and widely recognized as the most efficient and reliable static UPS for powering medium to large data centers. The G9000 UPS achieves 97% efficiency without resorting to a "power save mode," which translates to super-high efficiency while maintaining 100% uptime and power conditioning.

NextFort's business model focuses on leveraging the reduced operating costs associated with its unique modular approach that provides each customer with its own turnkey, financial grade data center solution as a completely self-contained environment. Customers benefit from flexibility and scalability in how they deploy modular units of data center capacity underpinning their businesses and customer-facing services. This includes NextFort's emphasis on maximum energy efficiency throughout the data center further reducing operating costs.

NextFort's Phase 1 launch in March will feature availability of 130,000 sq. ft. of NextFort High-Density Computing Suites (NextFort HCS™). These are completely self-contained, all concrete and steel rooms designed to house up to 20 high-density IT racks for a total IT load up to 225KW (up to 600 watts/sq ft.). NextFort's HCSs are arranged in clusters with each cluster powered by five Toshiba G9000 units with an overall power of 2 megawatts per cluster. Future expansion calls for 50,000 square feet of modular data center space for additional HCS suites that can be rapidly deployed.
