I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Visalia, CA Hotel Hosts Dog & Cat Food Drive for February
Visalia Marriott at the Convention Center Lends a Hand to Local Valley Oak SPCA

VISALIA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/13 -- While cat- and dog-lovers might stand on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to which animal makes the most loyal companion, everyone can agree on the need to help prevent cruelty against these furry friends.

For the month of February, the Visalia Marriott at the Convention Center is inviting guests of its Visalia, CA hotel to donate dry cat and dog food to support the local Valley Oak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Guests are asked to bring a minimum six- to eight-pound bag of dry puppy or kitten food when they check in. Those traveling with their own pets will receive $20 off the hotel's pet fee.

This King Canyon hotel is partnering to support the Valley Oak SPCA, a nonprofit organization that aims to "promote the humane treatment of animals, educate the community on responsible pet care, reduce pet overpopulation through an aggressive spay/neuter program and provide unique services, programs and shared experiences that strengthen and celebrate the bond between animals and people."

The Valley Oak SPCA has plans to open an Adoption & Education Center adjacent to the new City of Visalia Animal Shelter, set to open this year. The relocation will allow the SPCA branch to expand its Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic to provide more services and accommodate more animals. The clinic currently offers spay/neuter, flea control, microchip and vaccination services.

While the Visalia Marriott at the Convention Center has the food needs of local dogs and cats in mind, that doesn't mean guests' appetites are ignored. At the hotel's restaurant in Visalia, CA, enjoy a California-style breakfast, lunch or dinner made with fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast includes classics such as the All American, with two eggs, crisp hash browns, a choice of protein and grain, plus juice and coffee. For something different, try the crunchy Corn Flake-crusted French toast served with strawberries, bananas and light syrup, or the breakfast burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, Jack cheese, seasoned potatoes and salsa fresca. Lunch and dinner can be Quick N Easy with hummus and grilled flatbread or the chef's signature soup. Share some crispy calamari, beef tacos or Asian chicken lettuce wraps before deciding what to order for yourself. From burgers, sandwiches and salads to pasta, steak and pizza, this restaurant as something for everyone. If there's still room for dessert, try the apple bread pudding or molten lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream.
