Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Danfoss Seeks Entries for Fourth Annual EnVisioneer of the Year Competition
Competition Recognizes Building Owners, End Users, Municipalities, OEMs for Advancements in Energy Efficiency, Environmental Responsibility

BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 02/07/13 -- Danfoss, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency electronic and mechanical components and controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and motion systems, today announced its fourth annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition and is now accepting entries for consideration.

Launched in 2010, the competition recognizes U.S. end users, municipalities, building owners and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that have introduced a new product, opened a new facility or invested in a building or system upgrade in the past 18 months using Danfoss products or solutions to realize significant energy and/or environmental savings.

Interested participants may enter the competition by submitting an application no later than July 1, 2013, to Lisa Tryson, director, corporate communications and public relations, at Danfoss. A distinguished panel of judges representing different disciplines in industry, water, and the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industries will review all applications and select the winner.

To recognize the selected 2013 EnVisioneer of the Year, Danfoss will make a donation to a chosen charity in their honor.

"At Danfoss, we have the great opportunity to collaborate with some extraordinary companies also working to advance energy efficiency and environmental responsibility through innovative engineering," commented Tryson. "The EnVisioneer of the Year award is a unique way to recognize and support their achievements, and we look forward to finding our fourth winner."

In 2012, the EnVisioneer of the Year award was presented to Smardt Chiller Group Inc. during the Alliance to Save Energy's Energy Efficiency Global Forum (EE Global) in Orlando, Fla., in recognition of a chiller plant project at Sub-Zero's manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Ariz. Three 560-ton water-cooled Smardt chillers -- each equipped with four Danfoss Turbocor variable-speed oil-free compressors -- were installed at the plant and, combined with all-variable speed plant optimization, have helped improve the plant's efficiency by 61 percent.

For Sub-Zero, the new chiller plant represented annual savings in excess of 3 million kWh -- or approximately $371,700. Less energy consumption also means reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 3.5 million pounds compared to a conventional chiller plant.

Other previous recipients of the EnVisioneer of the Year award have included Multistack and Mars Supermarkets.
