AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 02/07/13 -- Today, the LIVESTRONG Foundation announced the appointments of Robyn Burchfiel as Vice President of Major Gifts and Cameron Krier as Director of Government Relations. Burchfiel comes to the Foundation with a wide range of experience in major gift fundraising and corporate management from her previous roles as director of gift and estate planning and director of leadership gifts at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Most recently, she founded Empowered Fitness in Austin, aspiring to provide safe and effective fitness training for women with planning that allowed them to achieve their fitness goals with minimal supervision or personal training. The Southwestern University graduate also enjoyed a highly successful career in corporate sales management at Dell, Inc., where she developed key business strategies for global consumers. In her free time, Burchfiel enjoys hiking, biking, Bikram yoga and spending time exploring Austin's outdoors scene with her husband, Steve, and daughters, Savannah and Addie. "Robyn's background and experience are an outstanding addition to the LIVESTRONG Foundation leadership team as it charts a strong, independent course in service to those affected by cancer," said LIVESTRONG Foundation Executive Vice President of Operations Andy Miller. Krier's expertise in governmental affairs comes from a career devoted to public service. As Vice President for Federal Affairs, Advocacy and Public Policy for the Texas Hospital Association, she specialized in leading the development and implementation of federal legislative strategy for more than 450 members. As legislative counsel to U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Krier advised the senator on federal health, education and labor policy, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, appropriations under the Labor, Health and Human Services bill, and legislation related to the President's Plan for Emergency AIDS Relief. Krier served as the senator's lead staff member when drafting the 21st Century Cancer ALERT Act and worked to draft and negotiate passage of legislation related to cancer clinical trials. Krier holds a Juris Doctorate degree with a certificate in health law from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in public health from The University of Texas. "We are excited to welcome Cameron to our team," said David Lofye, Vice President of Government Relations. "Her experience will be an incredible asset for the LIVESTRONG Foundation in its support for federal cancer funding and health policies that allow patients and survivors throughout the U.S. to thrive during and after cancer."
