Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Silver Peak Delivers Multi-Gigabit Virtual WAN Acceleration on Windows Server Hyper-V

Silver Peak Systems, a leader in accelerating data over distance, today announced its first multi-gigabit-per-second (Gbps) data acceleration solution for Windows Server Hyper-V environments. Silver Peak’s virtual offering for Windows Server Hyper-V now extends from small remote offices to large data centers, giving Microsoft Corp.’s hypervisor customers a highly flexible and cost-effective solution for maximizing the performance of application and storage traffic over a wide area network (WAN).

“Today’s virtualized data centers require not only scalable and reliable virtual infrastructure, but also high performance network services for transmitting data to offsite locations,” said Brian Hillger, director, server and tools marketing, Microsoft. “Silver Peak’s multi-gigabit WAN acceleration on Windows Server Hyper-V represents impressive virtual performance based on the innovation delivered in Windows Server 2012.”

Silver Peak’s unprecedented WAN acceleration performance on Windows Server Hyper-V means networking, virtualization and storage administrators can more easily meet their objectives for strategic IT initiatives such as remote data replication, virtualization, cloud, big data, and server/storage centralization. Silver Peak is the only company to offer multi-gigabit per second virtual WAN acceleration, delivering 20x the capacity of alternative solutions.

“Microsoft has made a profound leap in hypervisor performance and capabilities, and we are excited to be making use of their recent advancements to deliver multi-gigabit WAN acceleration on Windows Server Hyper-V,” said Vivian Xu, director of virtualization product management for Silver Peak. “We continue extending our lead over the competition in software-based WAN acceleration, from products that are easy to access and deploy, to unmatched performance levels on any standard hypervisor.”

Based on Silver Peak’s Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA), Silver Peak software delivers maximum performance with no hardware dependencies. A recent independent analysis highlights that Silver Peak virtual products perform as well as or better than physical devices from Riverbed. In addition, Silver Peak offers the only virtual software capable of running on every major hypervisor, delivering maximum flexibility to our customers.

All Silver Peak virtual products are available for immediate download and free trial via the Silver Peak virtual marketplace.
