SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/05/13 -- SkySQL, the trusted provider of open source database solutions, and MariaDB, created by MySQL®-database-creator Michael (Monty) Widenius and its employees, today announced the companies will organize and host their 2nd annual MySQL® and Cloud Database Solutions Day on April 26, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. The day will begin with Monty Widenius and Patrik Sallner, SkySQL CEO, sharing insights on the current and future trends pertaining to the most popular open source database, as well as the Cloud. The event itself features two technical tracks: one focused on the MySQL & MariaDB databases and related technologies, with a second focused on best practices for deploying database applications in the Cloud. Speakers will also include big data and analytics experts, as well as SkySQL & MariaDB customers, users and partners.

Attendees will learn about the new and improved MariaDB, how to adapt their MySQL solutions to the Cloud, create a high availability environment for their MySQL database, and more as well as receive free, hands-on help with their MySQL or MariaDB database installations from expert SkySQL & MariaDB consultants in the Solutions Lounge.

A powerful day of learning for MySQL DBAs, application developers building solutions on MySQL and development/engineering management, the MySQL® and Cloud Database Solutions Day takes place immediately following the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo, providing an extra day of free tutorials and discussions on core topics with exclusive speakers. Lunch will be served to all registered attendees.

What: MySQL® and Cloud Database Solutions Day
When: Friday, April 26, 2013
Where: Hyatt Regency Santa Clara - Santa Clara, Calif.

Last year, more than 250 professionals attended the inaugural event, experiencing a unique look at the state of the database landscape and hearing directly from influencers on the direction of the industry in general.

"The Solutions Day event is the perfect platform for us to continue to discuss plans for SkySQL & MariaDB cooperating on open source projects, partners and commercial solutions," said Widenius.

"Last year's Solutions Day was a must-attend event for me," said Dan Berry, director data management at Constant Contact. "I learned much and gained valuable insight from in-person meetings with great minds in open source. I can't wait to see what they have in store for this year's event."
