JDSU's PacketPortal(TM) Earns Multiple Awards
PacketPortal Continues to Earn Industry Recognition for Innovation and Collaboration by Enabling Advanced Communications Networks

MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/05/13 -- JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) announced today that its breakthrough network-visibility solution recently received the 2012 Global New Product Innovation Award in the service assurance market by worldwide industry research and analyst firm Frost & Sullivan. In addition, TMC, a global integrated media company, awarded PacketPortal the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year. Since its launch in February 2012, JDSU's PacketPortal has received numerous industry accolades.

Bandwidth-intensive technologies, including mobile video, social media and cloud-based applications, are driving demand for robust, uninterrupted service. PacketPortal helps carriers proactively find and fix network problems before they result in service interruption.

PacketPortal is the first open-platform software system that separates data capture from data management, enabling the ability to scale to provide real-time visibility into critical network functions. It uses simple plug-in microprobes embedded throughout existing network devices -- such as routers and switches -- that provide end-to-end management and troubleshooting without needing to deploy a field technician. This unique approach provides a live view of end users' feeds so technicians can diagnose network issues from a central hub.

"PacketPortal is a superior, unique solution that allows operators to provide high-bandwidth solutions at an affordable cost, without compromising quality," said Srihari Padmanabhan, senior research analyst, Frost & Sullivan. "PacketPortal utilizes an intelligent distributed microprobe functionality to gather data from across the network and provide it in real time to any management or business application. This leads to significant reduction in operational and capital expenditure of the customers, while enhancing the performance of existing network devices."

"It is with pleasure that we recognize JDSU with a Product of the Year Award. The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY have verified that JDSU's PacketPortal displays quality and innovation, while providing solutions to real business communications challenges," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "I would like to congratulate the team at JDSU for their commitment to advancing IP communication technologies."

In addition to these awards, PacketPortal was recently selected as the Golden Bridge Awards gold winner for network visibility innovation (see link). NG Telecommunications Summit Europe also named JDSU's PacketPortal solution the leader in innovation in November. For more JDSU awards and recognition, please click here.
