Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Peter George Joins Courion as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technology

Courion Corporation, the leader in risk-driven identity and access management (IAM), today named Peter George as senior vice president of engineering and technology.

George will be responsible for ongoing development of the Courion Access Risk Management Suite, a comprehensive platform for automating user access to organizations’ enterprise systems and resources, demonstrating compliance and managing access risk. He will oversee the company’s engineering strategy and operations, including the U.S. and India technology centers and the Courion Labs advanced research team.

As CTO & SVP of Products and Technology, George was an integral part of the executive team that grew Kronos from $150m to $800m in revenue. Building a global technology and product management team that grew to more than 700 people, he led the delivery of the industry’s first web-based workforce management application. After Kronos he served as CTO and executive vice president at Conservation Services Group, a $120 million energy conservation firm in Westborough, Mass. George also held a number of technical management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees at MIT.

“Mobility, cloud technologies and globalization are putting great pressure on organizations to expand employee, customer and partner access to their systems – creating significant business opportunity, but also increasing vulnerability at the same time,” said George. “Courion is leading the industry in the delivery of next generation of identity and access management (IAM) solutions that leverage big data and business intelligence technology to close the vulnerability gap between provisioning and governance, identifying and remediating access threats in real time. I am very excited to be joining the team and look forward to continuing to scale the technology organization to support Courion’s rapid growth.”

“Peter comes to Courion with an exceptional track record scaling software engineering, technology and product organizations for both private and public software companies,” said Christopher Zannetos, president and CEO of Courion. “He’s a brilliant thinker, an inspiring leader and a skilled executive. We’re delighted to have him.”
