Solarflare Appoints New Vice President to Lead Company's Engineering Efforts
Andre Chartrand, Vice President of Engineering, Joins Solarflare to Help Companies Process Data on a Global Basis

IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/29/13 -- Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) networking software and hardware, today announced that Andre Chartrand has joined the company as Vice President of Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Engineering. Chartrand's experience will help lead the company in developing software and hardware solutions that help create more efficient, faster networks to compete in the speed arms race. Solarflare has more than 600 customers that include the German Climate Research Center, EVS, Johns Hopkins, NASDAQ and the NYSE.

Chartrand joins Solarflare with over 30 years of engineering experience, having led Entropic Communications through a successful IPO in 2007 after serving as Engineering Vice President for three and a half years. Following his role at Entropic, Chartrand served as the Vice President of Engineering at ClariPhy Communications where he created and managed several world-class teams. Chartrand also held a variety of engineering positions for Transwitch Communications, Velio Communications and Chromatic Research.

"The proliferation of network data is a huge and growing problem, and companies and enterprises constantly need to access, process, analyze, and deliver it instantly on a global basis to millions of users," said Andre Chartrand. "I'm excited to join the Solarflare team, a company that is replacing the legacy vendors as cloud and data-rich applications and businesses continue to demand architectures that deliver new levels of network data processing capabilities."

"As Solarflare builds on its leadership and remains at the forefront of network interface software and hardware innovation, we welcome Chartrand to provide critical expertise for continued development of next-generation network compute capabilities," said Russell Stern, CEO of Solarflare. "Having Chartrand lead engineering efforts will only continue to differentiate Solarflare from our top competitors."

In addition to successful growth of its core 10GbE server adapter business, Solarflare has continued to demonstrate industry leadership with the introduction of the revolutionary ApplicationOnload Engine (AOE)™. In addition, the company launched the ApplicationOnLoad Engine (AOE) Ecosystem Partner Program, designed to bring together FPGA (field-programmable gate array) developers, design services, tools and IP block vendors to accelerate the creation and deployment of custom applications for real-time network data application processing.
