Similar is the case with managed multi Cloud hosting. You can very well understand how a big burden it would be to manage multi cloud servers for organization; this is why a service known as managed multi Cloud is provided to these users. This service ensures them the seam less running of their system administrative operations while organizations focus more on t...

Scale Computing Adds Former Nicira Executive Alan Cohen to Board of Directors

Scale Computing, developers of HC3, the industry’s leading hyperconverged solution built for midmarket companies that seamlessly combines servers, storage and virtualization into a single system, announced today that Alan Cohen has joined its Board of Directors. Alan is a technology veteran who has worked at some of the industry’s leading companies such as Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) and IBM (NYSE: IBM), as well as several disruptive startups in networking and software technology, including Nicira, Airespace and Tahoe Networks.

“Alan joins our Board of Directors at an exciting time as we accelerate our ability to bring easy-to-use and affordable products to small and midmarket IT, building on a range of new capabilities in our HC3 platform,” said Jeff Ready, CEO of Scale Computing. “His combined go-to-market experience and industry knowledge will help guide Scale as we continue to lead the virtualization hyperconvergence trend in the midmarket.”

Most recently, Alan was the VP of Marketing for Nicira, through VMware’s (NYSE: VMW) purchase of the company for $1.26 billion. Prior to that, he spent over 6 years as Cisco, including VP of Enterprise Solutions, leading a marketing and solutions portfolio that represented over half of Cisco’s revenue.

“Virtualization is the most powerful force in computing today and Scale dramatically lowers the burden and cost of deploying and managing it within a huge and incredibly underserved market segment,” said Cohen. “When you combine Scale’s Apple-like simplicity with a vast, open playing field, you are offered a tremendous opportunity. With only 10 percent of the midmarket virtualized, I’m very much looking forward to helping Scale capitalize on this with HC3.”

Prior to Cisco, Alan led marketing and product management at Airespace, a pioneering Enterprise Wireless LAN Company Cisco acquired in 2005 for $450 million. Alan’s earlier professional experiences including management and executive roles at U S WEST and Coopers & Lybrand. He is a graduate of the New York University Stern School of Business, American University’s School of International Service and SUNY Buffalo. He is a frequent contributor to tech blogs like ReadWrite, Fortune, TechCrunch and PandoDaily. His personal blog, Ineluctable Modality, focuses on transitions in technology.

About Scale Computing

Scale Computing develops IT infrastructure products for small to medium-sized organizations based on its patented ICOS [Intelligent Clustered Operating System] technology. Since launching its initial scale-out storage solution in 2009, Scale has grown to over 1,100 deployments. Scale is currently expanding its footprint throughout the datacenter with what analysts are calling the industry’s first hyperconverged architecture, HC3. Scale’s HC3 seamlessly integrates storage, servers and virtualization into a scalable, turnkey infrastructure that’s as easy to manage as a single server. Designed specifically for IT generalists, HC3 is ideal for those who have not yet adopted virtualization due to cost and complexity, enabling them to run highly available applications. For additional info, visit www.scalecomputing.com.
