I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Clapp Communications Adds Innovative Education Technology Developer 1sqbox to Its Growing Client List

BALTIMORE, Jan. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Baltimore-based, award-winning marketing and public relations firm Clapp Communications is pleased to announce the addition of its newest client, 1sqbox, LLC. 1sqbox (pronounced One Square Box), a Baltimore-based software and hardware development firm, is digitizing the entire education experience with its all-inclusive tablet featuring applications for the K-12 education market.

Clapp Communications will manage public relations to promote the education tablet and its software and capabilities throughout the United States and abroad. Founded in 2012 by attorney Granville Templeton III and technology CEO and entrepreneur Alexis J. Coates, the goal of 1sqbox is to implement this innovative product in school systems across the globe.

"I am excited and honored to be working with education-focused, forward-thinkers. 1sqbox is a company that is bringing education into the 21st century," said Barb Clapp, President & CEO of Clapp Communications. "This groundbreaking technology is an affordable, comprehensive solution that will help our students learn effectively and our families and schools work together more efficiently. Pearson's recent $89.5 million investment in Barnes and Noble's NOOK clearly shows that digital media and educational products are the future of our schools. This is where parents need to step up and ask their school system to implement products such as the 1sqbox tablet."

The 1sqbox tablet is the first intuitive classroom and administrative management tool that streamlines the information exchange among participants in the educational process. 1sqbox bundles only the most necessary tools utilized on a day-to-day basis. The tablet-based interface allows students, teachers, principals and parents to communicate in real time, creating a new frontier in the education realm. Everything that is needed for classroom management, student learning, administrative tools and parental monitoring is housed in one central application — an all-inclusive square box.

The tablets are lower in price than competitors such as Apple and Samsung, and the tablets are Flash-enabled. The 1sqbox educational software alone is also available for use on other computer hardware. 1sqbox's Granville and Coates were recently honored by The Daily Record as "Innovators of the Year" for 2012.

1sqbox is currently making its latest innovations available to school systems around the world. The company has received interest from administrators in Italy, South America and even Jordan — a true testament that educators worldwide want the best and most technologically advanced systems for their students.
