Caringo Named 2012 Product of the Year Finalist for Storage System Software

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Caringo, the leading provider of object storage software, today announced that it is a finalist in the enterprise storage system software category of the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com 2012 Product of the Year competition.

Caringo was honored for its Caringo CAStor® 6.0 object storage software with Elastic Content Protection (ECP).  Criteria for selection was based on demonstrated technical innovation, solid value, practical functionality, performance, ease of integration into existing data storage infrastructures, and ease of use and manageability.

"It's not easy for data storage systems to excel based on such demanding and diverse criteria under any circumstance, but emerging as a finalist for the 2012 Product of the Year awards is a particularly noteworthy achievement after a year that featured dramatic strides in storage technologies and practices related to cloud services, flash storage, virtual server and desktop environments, data protection and a rethinking of traditional storage array architectures," read the nomination announcement.  "For a product to distinguish itself in such an active environment is no small feat."

Caringo CAStor 6.0 object storage software with Elastic Content Protection (ECP) provides the storage industry's most-comprehensive data protection functionality, allowing organizations to meet any storage SLA, optimize deployment footprint and enhance data accessibility regardless of the volume, velocity or variability of unstructured information. ECP uses replication and erasure coding and leverages Caringo's automated health monitoring and recovery to optimize responsiveness as capacity grows.

"We are honored to have CAStor selected among the finalists for this year's Storage Product of the Year awards," said Mark Goros, CEO of Caringo. "This nomination represents the success of the object storage market as a whole, our position as a leader in the space, and CAStor's ability to satisfy the ever-increasing demands of the emerging cloud services and Big Data industries.  Being included as a finalist in this prestigious industry award is the perfect beginning to 2013 and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team."

Caringo is one of 52 enterprise data storage systems products in six categories selected as finalists. The enterprise storage system software category of Storage Magazine's Product of the Year competition covers file system, volume management, storage virtualization software, security software, storage optimization applications and data reduction.  A full list of Product of the Year finalists is available at http://searchstorage.techtarget.com/guides/Data-storage-systems-2012-Products-of-the-Year-finalists.  Winners will be announced next month.
