Vitesse Increases Market Presence in Asia With WPI Group

Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: VTSS), a leading provider of advanced IC solutions for Carrier and Enterprise networks, announced that WPI Group, a member of WPG Holdings, one of the world’s largest semiconductor distributors, will handle demand creation and fulfillment of Vitesse’s complete product line in Asia effective immediately.

Recent Infonetics reports project that telecom operators will increase equipment investment in 2013. Asia Pacific is expected to account for approximately one-third of global service provider revenue by 2016, primarily spurred by China Mobile. Major areas of investment include fiber-based broadband, 2G mobile network capacity expansion, as well as migration to 3G and LTE. Indeed, China is expected to be the largest mobile broadband market by 2016, with an estimated 639 million mobile broadband connections, according to GSMA reports.

“Following on our recent office expansion in China, increasing our APAC market presence with WPI further strengthens Vitesse’s ability to serve customers in these burgeoning markets,” said Phil Richards, vice president of sales at Vitesse. “Vitesse is committed to delivering superior solutions that anticipate the market needs for 4G/LTE and cloud computing.”

In 2012, Vitesse announced a relationship with WPI to distribute Vitesse products in India. Vitesse also has an exclusive relationship with WPG Holdings' subsidiary, WPG Americas, to distribute Vitesse products in the Americas. WPG Holdings is well reputed for their team of highly-technical experts, service and support, as well as their strength in reference design development for varied applications and markets.
