I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Global Software Leader Telerik Announces Plans for India’s Technology Sector

Telerik, an end-to-end provider of software development , lifecycle and content management tools and solutions, today announced its plans and goals for expansion within India. Company Co-CEOs, Vassil Terziev and Svetozar Georgiev, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Stephen Forte and India Country Manager, Abhishek Kant presented their approach at an exclusive press engagement on Tuesday, January 15 at the Hilton Eros Hotel, in New Delhi. The event included details about Telerik and its global strategy as well as plans for the Indian market. The company also presented a newly created hybrid mobile app geared specifically towards women’s safety issues in India.

“By 2015, [India’s] IT sector is expected to generate revenues of USD 130 billion (NASSCOM) which will create a transformational impact on the overall economy.”1 Given the prospective growth for this market, and Telerik’s substantial global presence -- more than 100,000 customers in 94 countries; 700+ employees in 11 offices on 4 continents -- and the ongoing need for app development, worldwide, Telerik is primed to bring its award-winning tools to India in order to help its burgeoning development community compete amongst the larger global landscape.

At the press briefing, Telerik’s leadership team announced that India is a focal market for the company and the New Delhi office, established last year, will direct efforts towards enhancing clients’ experience and providing access to Telerik’s unique skills and specialized knowledge. Stephen Forte, CSO, demonstrated how Telerik’s product strategy addresses the evolving nature of the IT industry in India towards mobility and introduced Icenium – a cloud-based solution for cross platform mobile development, and Kendo UI – a comprehensive HTML5 and JavaScript framework for the device and cloud era.

In addition to contributing to India’s technology sector, the company is also going to release a Women’s Safety App that will enable those in danger to quickly communicate with local area law enforcement. To encourage quicker response times, at the touch of a single “HELP ME” button, the app broadcasts the distressed user’s GPS location to a pre-selected group of emergency contacts. Through the use of Kendo UI and Icenium, a single developer was able to create the fully-formed app within two days. The app is currently in approval and will be available in app stores shortly.

The company has spent the last year making inroads across India having signed customers including Infosys, Cognizant, Honeywell, Dell and Symantec. Telerik has also struck strategic alliances with CSC and Idealake and has worked with local .NET communities such as BDotNet, Delhi Technology Forum, T-MUG, Pune User Group, KolkataGeeks and Microsoft User Group Hyderabad. In December the company conducted a “Telerik Test Professionals Conference” in Bangalore attended by 85 test professionals and on January 12 the company organized the first ever Telerik “Developers Conference,” which was attended by more than 130 IT professionals. In addition, in 2013 Telerik will conduct community initiatives such as events and training sessions geared toward the education of India’s developer community. The sessions will focus on topics such as mobile app development, hybrid app development, development tools, quality assurance, agile development and more.

“India is an extremely important market for us as many of the world’s developers reside in its major IT hubs in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata,” said CEO Svetozar Georgiev. “Not only do we want to establish our presence in this region, but we want to give back to the community with informative educational opportunities that will grow the individual developer’s skill set to compete more effectively. Through the programs we have in place, Telerik’s concerted effort on this market will yield benefits for all involved.”
