ROCKAWAY, N.J., Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Party City, North America's largest party supply retailer, proudly announces a partnership with non-profit organization Taste of the NFL to support hunger relief. 1 in 6 Americans face serious hunger issues reports Feeding America, with many families and even children going without food for several meals and even days. Together, Party City and Taste of NFL want to help feed the 37 million Americans who have turned to their local food banks for assistance. From January 13 – February 2, Party City customers can support Taste of NFL with dollar donations collected at the registers of its more than 750 retail stores. According to Feeding America, every dollar donated provides a family in need with eight meals. "By partnering with Taste of the NFL, Party City has the ability to fight against hunger and bring food to family tables across America," said Gregg Melnick, President of Party City. "As the premier destination for Super Bowl party supplies, Party City is a natural fit for Taste of the NFL, and we're excited to support such a worthwhile cause." Taste of the NFL rallies the country's top chefs and NFL players to raise money for food banks throughout the United States with their efforts culminating at the Super Bowl with the annual Party with a Purpose® event. Since 1992, the Taste of the NFL has distributed more than $14 million to food banks through its strolling food and wine tasting event featuring chefs from each NFL city serving their signature dish alongside a current or alumni NFL player. Party with a Purpose® is the single most successful charitable event at the Super Bowl, and takes place this year on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans with doors opening at 7 p.m. Chef Tory McPhail, from famed Commander's Palace Restaurant, along with New Orleans Saints Alumnus Morten Andersen will play hosts to more than 32 of the brightest culinary stars, celebrity guest chefs and 32 past and present legends of the game. "As the need for hunger relief is greater than ever, Party City makes it easy for their customers to make a difference and help families in need, " said Wayne Kostroski, founder of Taste of the NFL. "Taste of the NFL looks forward to working with Party City and raising funds that will be distributed directly to food banks in NFL cities nationwide."
