Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Symphony Teleca and Discretix Collaboration Accelerates Android OMA DRM Deployments

Symphony Teleca Corporation, the services organization dedicated exclusively to helping clients manage the global convergence of software, the cloud and connected devices and Discretix, the leading provider of field-proven content protection and embedded security solutions, today announced the successful deployment of multiple Android devices using its Open Mobile Alliance Digital Rights Management (OMA DRM) v1.0 solution.

OMA DRM is a widely deployed DRM scheme, used by hundreds of mobile operators in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America for securing video, music and ringtone services. To support the OMA DRM v1.0 scheme, Android requires adaptations to all multimedia applications.

The pre-packaged Symphony Teleca-Discretix offering is the most complete and field-proven solution in the marketplace, meeting the operator's requirements for OMA DRM v1.0; ensuring reduced time-to-market; and providing support for future versions of Android. The Discretix OMA DRM v1.0 product provides complete support for all the required content delivery methods including Forward Lock, Combined Delivery and Separate Delivery, and is now offered as a DRM Framework plug-in. Symphony Teleca provides an integrated solution based on the Discretix OMA DRM v1.0 product with full OMA DRM v1.0 application support for Android.

“The collaboration between Symphony Teleca and Discretix allows our customers to have a complete, operator-compatible, OMA DRM solution with a very short time-to-market,” said Amit Shofar, Vice President Business Development, Discretix.

“Since the announcement of our collaboration with Discretix during Mobile World Congress 2012 we have successfully delivered multiple deployments of the Discretix solution to mobile device manufacturers. As a recent example we are extremely proud to work with Kyocera, a leading and highly innovative Japanese mobile phone brand, integrating and customizing the Discretix OMA DRM solution into their latest mobile phone products aimed at the international market,” said Robert Kempf, Vice President Marketing & Technology, Mobile and Connected Division, Symphony Teleca.

“Kyocera was very pleased by the expertise, responsiveness and quality of deliverables from Symphony Teleca. Selecting Symphony Teleca as an OMA DRM integration partner was the perfect choice and ensured high quality and on-time delivery for our products,” said Hiroyuki Kusaka, Manager of Software Department, Corporate Communication Equipment Group, Kyocera Corporation.
