"Broadcom's integration capability accelerates the design and deployment of powerful new connected home devices, maximizing the potential of our RDK," said Steve Reynolds, Senior Vice President of Premises Technology for Comcast. "We are committed to delivering rich, interactive and whole-home connected TV experiences and the RNG150N gives our subscribers a powerful new way to enjoy TV."

Key Features of Broadcom's BCM7125 STB SoC:

  • Integrates five different major STB functions into one device while achieving power savings and reduced footprint and including a full DOCSIS cable modem, MPEG 4 HD decoder, MoCA® 1.1 modem, 1GHz tuners and 3D graphics.
  • Supports video-on-demand (VoD), IP video streaming, and integration of the X1 user interface (UI) system with social networking, personalization and fast search.
  • Features configuration option to run the X1 UI as a client device connected to an XG1DVR server. This provides greater deployment flexibility for Comcast to deliver the X1 AnyRoom DVR service to subscribers.

"Powered by Broadcom, the deployment of the RNG150N demonstrates a long-term commitment with Comcast to deliver even more interactive and rich multi-screen TV entertainment experiences," said Dan Marotta, Broadcom Executive Vice President and General Manager, Broadband Communications Group.
