Orca Systems, Inc. (, a fabless RF semiconductor company based in Poway, Calif., today announced that Onida, a leading Indian consumer electronics manufacturer, has selected Orca’s ORC5305 silicon tuner for its Next Generation LED televisions. The ORC5305 is a single-chip, CMOS-based, hybrid TV tuner that can receive both analog and digital signals from either terrestrial or cable networks.

“Reception of signals through terrestrial and cable networks is very important for our TV customers,” said Suresh Kumar, general manager of research & development at MIRC Electronics Ltd., Onida’s parent company. “We are excited to offer our next generation LED TVs with best-in-class reception performance using ORCA’s silicon tuner.”

Added Guruswami Sridharan, CEO and founder of Orca Systems: “Our ORC5305 offers leading television manufacturers such as Onida the high performance of CAN tuners with an ultra-small, slim footprint, high interference rejection, and the ability to pick up weak signals or signals with a wide dynamic range from various networks. By incorporating Orca’s proprietary DSP-RF-based tuner technology, Onida is well positioned to deliver compelling new LED TV products to consumers in the growing Indian electronics market and to continue building on its quality brand image.”

Orca will be demonstrating analog TV (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) and DVB-T/DVB-T2/DVB-C reception using its ORC5305 TV tuner chip at the 2013 International CES in Las Vegas (Jan. 8-11). The Orca suite (LVH2450) is in the Central Tower of the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly the Hilton). Those interested in booking a meeting should contact
