Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses Ready for App Development
SDK emulator begins shipping to developers

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vuzix Corporation (TSX-V: VZX, OTC:BB: VUZI, FMB: V7X)  today announced that it has begun shipping Phase 1 of its SDK for the recently unveiled M100 Smart Glasses - enabling developers to start developing and testing their apps using the Android emulator configured as an M100 device.

Shortly after unveiling the award winning M100 smart glasses, Vuzix again demonstrates its commitment to delivering cloud connected smart glasses to the market.  Pre-registered and new developers wishing to be a part of the future of smart glasses can log into the new Vuzix developer center (www.developer.vuzix.com) and sign up as a smart glasses developer to receive the Phase 1 package which will provide them with the software required to start writing code using the PC emulator for Android.

The ongoing developer program will offer early access to the M100 smart glasses, support, technical advice and regular updates for the creation of content for the Vuzix Smart Glasses M100, which offer wearers the ability to view data and content from their connected mobile device on a 'hands-free' display.

Paul J. Travers, Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are delighted to be opening up the developer portal.  After our recent announcement of the M100 we received many inquiries which led us to focus on a staggered approach for developers. We understand developers and their related applications are a crucial part of bringing smart 'cloud connected' glasses to market. More importantly, when developers sign up they will receive a physical Vuzix Developer package which provides them with useable software to begin development immediately."

The Vuzix M100 has a built in color display driven by a powerful processing engine running the Android OS, an integrated head tracker and GPS for spacial and positional awareness. An integrated camera enables video recording, still image capture and the potential for powerful augmented reality applications. Interactive tracking and an integrated camera, combined with newly developed applications on the M100 and a smartphone linked to the Cloud, enable the merging of virtual information with the real world.

The M100 SDK is available in two versions, Gold and Silver.  They will be delivered in stages and include frequent updates, as they become available, advanced hardware when released, and access to the developer center as it expands to provide technical and developer community support.

Vuzix Smart Glasses M100 will be showcased to media attending the official CES Unveiled event on Sunday 6th January, and everyone attending the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 8th to 11t.h. Vuzix will be demonstrating a number of advanced hands-free applications with the M100. To arrange a 1-2-1 demonstration please contact us or visit Vuzix at the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Hall, Booth #14046.
