Phillip Rowland-Seymour will lead Maryland Small Grants Program, support Foundation Program Directors BALTIMORE, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the United States, today announced that Phillip Rowland-Seymour has been named as Program Associate. The newly-created position is based in the Foundation's Owings Mills, Maryland office. Rowland-Seymour will co-manage the Foundation's Maryland Small Grants Program designed to award grants to grassroots, bottom-up, direct-service providers in Maryland with annual expense budgets of less than $5 million. He will also provide substantial assistance to five senior Program Directors who manage grantmaking for the Foundation in the following specific program areas: older adults; workforce development; basic human needs and health; education, children, youth and families; and disabilities. Prior to joining the Weinberg Foundation, Rowland-Seymour was a Program Assistant at The Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore. He has also held positions with Baltimore City Public Schools, The United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, and Syracuse University. "Phillip has a demonstrated passion to serve at-risk communities with particular emphasis on assisting vulnerable children and families," said Rachel Garbow Monroe, Weinberg Foundation President. "That focus is a superb match with the Weinberg Foundation's mission, and we are confident that Phillip's education, experience, and enthusiasm will be tremendous assets as he engages with Maryland's smaller nonprofits in serving disadvantaged and vulnerable populations." A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Rowland-Seymour received a B.A. from Cleveland State University and a master's degree from Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Phillip actively volunteers at a variety of community organizations. He lives with his wife, two children, and multiple pets in Baltimore City.
