TODAY: Hong Kong New Year's Eve Countdown Celebrations
Hong Kong Tourism Board Provides Live Satellite Feed for Broadcasting Worldwide to the Largest Pyrotechnics Show in Event History

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Slated to be the largest in the event's six-year history, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is taking its annual Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations to impressive new heights with the city's first-ever pyrotechnics display launched from both land and sea. The spectacular show -- held for the first time in Hong Kong's bustling Wan Chai District on the night of December 31, 2012 -- will stun fellow partygoers as the city's exquisite skyline breathes in the New Year with a synchronized "pyrotechnic musical" -- a light show of shooting stars symbolizing well wishes for 2013.

Taking on the apropos theme "New Year . New World," the highly anticipated show will last for eight minutes -- double the length of the previous year's display -- and commence on the city's world-renowned Victoria Harbour as it moves landward in three separate arrangements. Hundreds of thousands of spectators will marvel as the iconic waterfront Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is framed by a dazzling flurry of explosive lights at the stroke of midnight.
